Change the Web Conference Layouts
Rainbow offers several layouts for the web conference for optimal user comfort:
-
Change video layout. You have the following options.
Active speaker only. This view displays a full-screen video of whoever is speaking and the own video of the user.
Grid (Default). This view lets you see thumbnail displays of participants in a grid pattern, with 6 per page, which expands and contracts as participants join and leave the meeting. Navigate between pages by selecting the page number at the bottom of the web conference screen.
Large Grid. The large grid allows to see 49 videos simutaneously. That view is available only when more than 12 users in the web conference have their video on. The status of the microphone is shown but the "is speaking" is handled in that view. Navigate between pages by selecting the page number at the bottom of the web conference screen.
Tips: If you experience latency issues during the web conference, such as when many participants are using video, you can turn off incoming videos or incoming screen sharing on your device. To do this, open the contextual menu at bottom right of conversation screen and select " Turn off incoming video" or/and " Turn off incoming sharing". Use the same way to turn on incoming video or sharing. You can also consult the article : Check your Configuration to Improve Call Quality.
Pop-out the Web Conference or the screen sharing
You can pop-out the web conference window or the screen sharing, allowing you to view videos and screen sharing while using Rainbow or other applications. You can easily return the pop-out window to Rainbow from the bubble conversation. All controls, such as mute/unmute, video on/off, and ending the call, can be accessed from the external pop-out window. However, to share your screen, you must return to the Rainbow app to select the screen or app. If another participant shares their screen, you can pop out the screen sharing into a separate window, enabling you to view videos on one side and screen sharing on the other or on a second monitor.
- During the web conference, open the contextual menu at bottom right of web conference screen.
- Select " Pop-out conference" to pop-out the web conference window.
- Select " Pop-out only screen sharing" to pop-out only the screen sharing.
Note: To go back to the bubble conversation, close the pop-out window or select the "Bring it back" button in the Rainbow app.
Raise Hand in Conference
During a web conference, participants can raise their hands to indicate they wish to speak. When someone raises their hand, all participants, except for the person involved, will hear a discreet sound to let them know. At a web conference, as soon as someone raises their hand, all participants can follow the order in which hands are raised to see who gets to speak first.
- Click on “ Raise your hand” icon on the bottom bar.
A notification will then be sent to everyone. The number of raised hands is displayed at the top of the web conference screen: . The thumbnail of those who have asked to speak is framed in yellow.
To withdraw, select the " Lower your hand" icon.
