Rainbow allows Webinar 500 hosts to stream their webinar live to YouTube directly from the platform, with no third-party software required.
With Rainbow’s live streaming feature, your webinar audience is no longer limited to the people who join the Rainbow webinar. Once your YouTube stream key is saved in the webinar parameters, the stream starts automatically on YouTube Live when you start the broadcast, and stops when you stop it. Your YouTube audience can start watching within a few seconds.
Live streaming and recording are independent: you can stream a webinar with or without recording it.
Prerequisites:
- The webinar must use the Webinar 500 capacity. On a Webinar 120 webinar, the Live streaming tab is visible but greyed out.
- You need a YouTube account with live streaming enabled. On a new account, YouTube can take up to 24 hours to activate live streaming before the stream key can be used.
Get your YouTube stream key
- Open YouTube Studio.
- Click Go Live, then open Stream settings.
- Copy your stream key.
Never share your stream key: anyone who has it can stream to your YouTube channel.
Set up live streaming for a webinar
- Open the Webinar parameters of your webinar.
- Select the Live streaming tab. As long as no key is saved, YouTube Live is shown as Not set up.
- Paste your YouTube stream key in the Stream key field. The key is hidden by default; click the eye icon to display it.
- Click “Save streaming settings”.
Start and stop the live stream
- The practice room is not streamed: you can rehearse with your speakers before going live.
- Click “Start broadcast” and confirm. The stream automatically goes live on YouTube.
- Click “Stop broadcast” and confirm to end the webinar. All participants are logged out and the stream to YouTube is stopped.
Rainbow does not provide the YouTube viewer link: retrieve it from YouTube Studio and share it with your audience.
