The aim of this document is to explain how to swap a Pleiades phone device from NOE mode to SIP mode and from SIP mode to NOE mode.
Warning: when upgrading a device with a USB key, only the required files must be present on the key. It means that only SIP OR NOE upgrade file must be present but NOT BOTH. It makes the upgrade process go wrong.
Swap from NOE to SIP mode
We strongly suggest using the latest R150 NOE binary before attempting to swap to SIP mode. Recommended version is: R150 1.10.15 build 1707 for Pleiades Enterprise phones. For Pleiades Essential ALE-30 do not put NOE binary lower than R310 1.50.00.
Step 1: disable device upgrade
Disable device upgrade from server. Follow: Menu -> Settings -> Phone -> Local Menu -> Config. MMI -> Software Infos -> Upgrade and uncheck the “Enable software upgrade” checkbox and press the floppy disk icon to save.
Step 2: manual upgrade to R150
With a USB key, if the software version is not at least an R150, upgrade the NOE software version to a R150 one. Follow the steps described on the annexes.
Step 3: manual SIP installation
Once the NOE R150 software has been installed, repeat step 2 but with a signed SIP version on key this time. It will be installed on the device inactive partition.
Step 4: mode switch
After device boots, follow: Menu -> Settings -> Phone -> Local Menu -> Config. MMI -> Software Infos -> Run Mode, click on “Set Mode” to switch and press the floppy disk icon to save.
What could go wrong:
1. If the NOE software upgrade does not work, check that the software version you are trying to install is a signed version.
2. When you try to swap to SIP mode and device does not switch display from “NOE” to “SIP” it means that SIP version is not installed on the inactive partition.
3. Make sure you use an USB key formatted in FAT 32
