In some cases, it can be helpful to collect the DECT base station logs to facilitate the analysis of an issue.
Activate the debug session
From your Rainbow administration interface, allow the connection to the DECT base station.
Go to Communication -> Devices -> DECT base stations -> Debug session = Enable
The request is processed within 2 minutes.
Optional: search of the base station's IP address
- If you configured a 8368 base station, the primary base station should be the IP address you entered when you created the base station via the Rainbow BP admin.
If you configured a 8328 base station, you can retrieve the IP address by an other way. The DECT handset has an “IP search” feature, which allows the user to view the IP addresses of the bases. To use this feature, please follow the steps below:
Step 1 Handset in idle
Step 2 8214 device: Enter in the Menu by pressing the Menu key
Step 3 Type *47* (*IP*) (You will not see the dialed numbers, there is no feedback)
The handset will now start to search for base stations, and for each one found, the MAC and IP address will be shown.
Connection to the Base Station's interface
- Open a Web browser and type in the IP address previously discovered by the DECT handset.
- If the base station’s version is equal or higher than 770.205, you should first enter a master’s password.
The password must follow the following rules.
- On the Login page, enter your authentication credentials (i.e. username and password) retrieved from the Rainbow BP admin account. The default credentials are admin/admin if the base station is not configured in zero touch mode.
- The secondary base station’s IP address(es) can be retrieved via the ‘Multi cell’ menu.
DECT Base Station in debug mode
Activate syslog in debug mode
Go to Management -> Syslog/SIP Log
Upload of SIP Log: Enabled (if needed)
Syslog level: Debug (Mandatory)
Syslog server IP Address: IP_address (if possible)
Save
Activate the Multi Cell debug
If you encountered an issue with the dual cell or multi cell feature, you should activate this feature in debug mode.

Diagnostics
This page allows the administrator to collect system diagnostics information into a zip file. The zip file includes all type of information, such as RSX trace, Syslog, SIP Log, Config file(s), etc.
Note: Be careful, this file download is operational only if the Web browser is located in the customer’s network.
- Go to Diagnostics -> Logging -> PCAP internal tracing
Select Trace packets to/from this base (Except Audio)
Select Trace audio packets to/from this base (if audio issue)
Save
- Try to reproduce the issue.
- Save the zip log file by selecting ‘Download traces from ‘Current Basestation’ or ‘All Basestations’.
Please describe the error and how it happened: Enter a comment
The file ‘All_BS_traces.zip’ file is created.
Note: The pcap trace only records the last 10 minutes.
Other logs
If you can’t retrieve the zip file from the Diagnostics menu, it is recommended to retrieve the following logs once the issue is reproduced.
- Configuration -> Export -> Authorise the file download
- Syslog -> Export
- SIP Log -> Export
- Network pcap traces of the bases would be very useful if the zip file can’t be retrieved. It can perhaps be launched with the port mirroring feature of the switch.
