Management operations are performed from the public numbers management window of the company.
From the public numbers management window, you can:
- Change the default public number for the company
- Manage the public numbers for destinations such as company members, Automated Attendants, hunting groups and manager/assistant groups
Up to five public numbers can be managed for a destination. - Remove the public numbers for destinations
- In case of multi-site configuration, associate public numbers to sites
- In case of multi-site configuration, manage a public number as the default public number for a site, in the same way as for company
Company members without any assigned public number can still make outgoing calls. The public number seen by the called party is the public number of a site or the company, depending on the configuration.

Prerequisites
- The public numbers must be configured in the Cloud PBX.
Accessing the public numbers management window
- From the Rainbow application, click on Manage your company
in the left panel.
- In the customer list, click on the name of your company.
- In the left panel, click on Communication.
- In the right part of the window, click on the Public numbers tab.
Changing the public number for the company
You can assign a new free public number to the company, or assign the public number of the company to a destination such as a company member, welcome service, Automated Attendant, hunting group or manager/assistant group. The public number of the company can only be assigned to one destination at a time.
- From the public numbering management window, if needed, you can only filter the available public numbers by selecting Not assigned in the Assignation drop-down list.

Move your mouse over the target public number, click on
and select
Set as company phone number.
The selected public number is highlighted in bold and set to Yes (Company) in the Company phone number column. If the public number is also associated to a site, the column is set to Yes (Company, Site).Note: If another public number was already defined as Company phone number, this public number becomes free, and can be assigned to another destination.
Managing the public numbers for a destination
You can assign up to five public numbers (one primary and four secondary) to a destination such as a member, Automated Attendant, hunting group or manager/assistant group. If one of the public number was already assigned to a destination, you must first remove the current association before assigning this public number to another destination.
- From the public numbering management window, if needed, you can only filter the available public numbers by selecting Not assigned in the Assignation drop-down list.
- Click on the target public number.
- If the public number is free, in the Destination tab, select the destination (type and information).
- If there is no internal extension number associated to the company member, select a free number in the Extension number field (mandatory).
- If one or more public numbers are associated to the destination, in the Public number type field, select any of the following: Primary or Secondary. If Primary is selected, the former primary public number becomes secondary.
- Click on Apply.
For destinations with multiple public numbers, there is one line per public number in the list with the position of the public number displayed in the Destination type column (e.g. Member (Primary) and Member (Secondary).
Changing the primary public number for a destination
This applies to destinations with multiple public numbers, for which one of the secondary public numbers must become the primary public number.
From the public numbering management window, move your mouse over the target secondary public number, click on and select
Set as primary phone number for this destination.
The Destination type column must indicate Member (Primary) for the selected public number.
Removing the public numbers of a destination
If the destination has multiple public numbers, you must remove them one by one.
- From the public numbering management window, click on the target public number.
- In the Destination tab, click on Remove.
A confirmation pop-up window opens. - Click on Remove to confirm deletion.
This public number becomes free, and can be assigned to another destination.
