Send a Message
After selecting a conversation, you can send a message in that conversation.
Tips: The list of recent conversations evolves based on your conversations. If you want easy access to certain conversations, consider marking contacts as Favorites. Learn more.
- Select the person you want to chat with.
- Once you have selected the person, simply type your message in the text box.
- Press the send icon or hit the enter key on your keyboard to send the message.

Check the Status of a Message
The status of the message is displayed next to the message:
- : a single gray check mark indicates that the message has been sent, but has not yet been received by the recipient's messaging inbox (for example, when your contact is not connected).
- : double gray check marks indicate that the message has been delivered to the recipient's messaging conversation.
- : double blue check marks indicate that the message has been read by the recipient.
Receive a Message
There are three possible scenarios when you receive a new message:
- If the conversation with the sender is already open, the new message will instantly appear on the screen.
- If you are in a different conversation, the number of new messages will be displayed on the conversation with the sender that is not currently open (for example if there are 2 new messages : ). If the conversation has been removed from your recent conversations list, it will be added back to the list.
- Finally, if the conversation is no longer in your recent conversations list, but the contact is added to your favorites, the icon will appear on the contact's avatar in the favorites list.
Note: When your correspondent is typing the message, you'll see this indicated below the text box with a slow blinking notification.

Mark a Message as Unread
Marking a message as unread helps prioritize and manage incoming messages effectively, and allows for delayed responses when convenient.
- Open the contextual menu that appears when you hover over the message you want to mark as unread.
- Select the " Mark as unread" menu. The message is marked as unread and the number of unread messages will be displayed on the conversation. If the contact is one of your favorites, the icon will appear on the contact's avatar in the favorites list.
- Press and hold the message to open the menu.
- Select the " Mark as unread". The message is marked as unread and the number of unread messages will be displayed on the conversation. If the contact is one of your favorites, the red badge will appear on the contact's avatar in the favorites list.
Note: When you mark a message as unread, your contact does not see that you have done so; for them, the message appears as read.
