This article allows to configure telephone devices for a Cloud PBX associated to a customer company.
The available telephone devices are ALE SIP deskphones, ALE DECT handsets and third-party SIP equipment (i.e. generic SIP devices).
Management operations are performed from the device management window of the company.
From the device management window, you can:
- As Rainbow reseller only:
- Declare telephone devices
- Associate an add-on module to Myriad deskphones
- Perform remote operations on ALE SIP deskphones:
- Access to the deskphone Web Based Management (WBM) using an SSH connection
- Deskphone reboot
- Deskphone reset to factory
- Delete telephone devices
- Associate telephone devices to company members
- Remove telephone device/company member association
The telephone devices can be declared one by one, or in bulk by importing a CSV file with device data (bulk provisioning).
The telephone device association to company member can be performed at device declaration, or later after device declaration. In case of bulk provisioning, the telephone device association to company member can only be done after its declaration in the equipment.
This article describes only operations available to Rainbow resellers. For other operations listed above, and common to company administrators: see article: Manage telephone devices for company members
Accessing the device management window
- From the Rainbow application, click on Manage your customers
in the left panel.
- In the MY CUSTOMERS panel, click on Customers companies.
- In the right part of the window, click on the name of the target customer company.
- In the left panel, click on Communication.
- In the right part of the window, click on the Devices tab.
Declaring telephone devices one by one
- From the device management window, click on Create.
- Select the device type, and enter the MAC address for ALE SIP deskphone, IPEI for ALE DECT handset, or no value for generic SIP devices
For MAC address entry, colon separators are automatically added when typing. - Optionally, enter a description.
- Optionally, associate the telephone device to a company member:
- Click on the Member tab.
- Select the target company member.
- If there is no internal extension number associated to this company member, select a free number in the Extension number field (mandatory).
Note: The association of an internal extension number can also be done at member configuration.
- Click on Apply.
The telephone device is displayed in the device list. If the telephone device is associated to a company member, the name of this company member and corresponding extension number are also displayed.
Declaring telephone devices using bulk provisioning
Bulk provisioning allows to add, modify, delete a number of devices in one go via a CSV file.
This operation consists in:
- Exporting either:
- A template file (CSV format) to create new telephone devices.
The exported file contains a header line indicating the fields to complete, as well as an example of telephone device creation. - A CSV file to modify already declared telephone devices.

- A template file (CSV format) to create new telephone devices.
- Editing and completing the file with the telephone device data
- Importing the updated file
Procedure:
- From the devices management window, perform any of the following:
- To create new telephone devices: Click on Import, then Download Sample File.
- To modify already declared telephone devices: Click on Export.
A registration pop-up window opens.
- Browse, and save the file locally.
- Edit the file with a text editor.
- For each line, complete the action column with the operation to perform:
- To add a telephone device:
- Copy/paste the line of an existing device, if any.
- Complete the columns with the telephone device data, such as MAC address (mandatory).
- Enter create in the action column.
- To modify a telephone device: enter update in the action column, and modify the columns with the telephone device data.
- To delete a telephone device: enter delete in the action column of the telephone device to delete.
- To add a telephone device:
- Save the file.
- From the Devices tab, click on Import.
- Click on Browse and select the path where the file is saved.
- Enter a description (mandatory).
- Click on Import.
A summary of the actions performed in the file is displayed. - Click on Import to confirm.
The Status column indicates whether the import has been completed successfully (status must set to Completed). - Click on Back to Devices to display the new devices.
Associating an add-on module to Myriad deskphones
- From the device management window, click on the target Myriad deskphone (M3, M5 or M7), then the Information tab.
- In the Add-on module field, use the drop-down menu to select the add-on module connected to the Myriad deskphone: EM20 Expansion Unit (i.e. EM_20) or EM200 Expansion unit (i.e. EM_200).
- Click on Modify to validate.
Performing remote operations on ALE SIP deskphones
Prerequisite: The ALE SIP deskphones must be associated to company members and running. If status is Not connected, remote operations such as SSH connection, reboot or reset to factory are not allowed.
- From the device management window, click on the target ALE SIP deskphone, then the Information tab.
- Perform one of the following:
- To access the deskphone WBM using an SSH connection, click on Allow: the account credentials and URL used to access the deskphone WBM are displayed.
Clicking on the URL opens a browser and a login window. After entering the account credentials, the WBM home page opens.
Example for an M7 deskphone: - To disable SSH connection and access to the deskphone WBM, click on Block.
- To reboot the ALE SIP deskphone, click on Reboot: the deskphone reboots immediately.
- To reset the ALE SIP deskphone to factory, click on Reset, read the warning message indicating the deskphone will no longer be operational after the reset, and will have to be manually configured, then click on Reset.
- To access the deskphone WBM using an SSH connection, click on Allow: the account credentials and URL used to access the deskphone WBM are displayed.
