Cloud PBXs natively support a wide range of telephony devices, including Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise DECT solutions. Connecting a base station is the first step before deploying a fleet of DECT phones. These bases can be managed directly from the administration space of a Rainbow Company including a Cloud PBX. It is imperative that your bases are connected to the public network in order to exchange information with the Rainbow infrastructure.
CREATE A PRIMARY 8368 DECT BASE
Warning: The Primary base station must have a fixed or reserved DHCP IP address. This allows to have control over the address of this base station which is used as Data Primary Base station in the Peer to Peer MultiCell system. The DHCP parameters must be contain a DNS IP address.
Note: It is also recommended to assign the Primary base station at index 0.
- From your administration interface, go to your customer list. Choose the company for which you wish to deploy your DECT base.
- In the left-hand menu, go to the “Communication” area, then to the “Devices” tab.
- Click on the “DECT base stations” sub-tab to display the list of existing bases or create a new one. Click on the “Create primary base” button to deploy a new device.
- Choose a name for the base station and enter its MAC address. In the picklist, indicate type 8368 DECT Base Station. You must also enter an IP address for your primary base station. Once all the information has been entered, complete the installation by clicking on the “Create” button.
- Once created, your DECT base will appear in the devices area. You can click on a base to modify its information or check its connection status.
Note: If the base station is not in the 'running' state, you can try to execute a ‘factory reset' of the base station. So just press the reset button of the base until the led stays red. It should last about 12 seconds.
Note: The Multi Cell System mode is a group of base stations on a LAN using the same System Chain ID. All base stations using the same Chain ID are connected together.
Tips: You can find the MAC address of your base on the packaging or directly on the box.
CREATE A SECONDARY 8368 BASE
Warning: At least, one DECT device must be created on primary base station before adding the second base station. Thus, registering a handset at this point is not a requirement.
- To create a secondary base station, you need to have connected a primary base station. Then you can hover over it with your mouse, then click on the “more option” button. In the menu, choose “Create secondary base”.
- Enter a name and the MAC address of the device. Complete the installation by clicking on the “Create” button.
- The main base station will indicate that it has a secondary base station in the “DECT base stations” subtab. You can modify or view this secondary base station by hovering your mouse over the main base station and clicking on the “more option” button. In the menu, choose “Show secondary bases” to retrieve the information.
-
You can check the multi cell configuration by connecting to the DECT base station via an https session.

Note: It takes up to 5 or 15 minutes (synchronization time) to add new bases stations to a multi cell system.
Note: If the base station has already been connected to an other system, it is necessary to do a factory reset of the base station.
Note: Be careful if you execute a factory reset of the primary base station because all DECT devices will unregister.

Primary base station replacement in a peer-to-peer deployment
If Primary base station at index 0 is broken, do not replace it with another base station at index 0. Just let the new replacing base be in the DECT chain with a new index, but change the base station in index 1 to do the work of index 0.
It means that in Rainbow BP admininistration, set the IP address of the primary base to the IP address of index 1.
